I made my call after work 4:30ish so I talked to just the person who answered the phone. When I checked the J-pay site last night it says "sent". I also talked with my l/o and he said he heard nothing yet on any $ so hopefully it will be there today for his first shop. Thanks to all who  responded, I was hoping it was just a randum comment by someone who didnt know the process. My nerves are just on edge with this move, dont know why!! It is what it is.. wc26

Well, I will pass along my update, I just got of the phone with my l/o. It figures, he did not get the funds that I sent on Wed. by J-pay so he could not shop yesterday. Of course the other facility has not forwarded any funds he had on the books there. He was bumbed out and so was I. I tried, this was my first time using J-pay, I had always sent m.o. before. Do you think this is because he is a new transfer that the money didnt get credited to him yet?

Hi Betty,  I can only speak from personal experience.  I know a lot of people here like using JPay.  I hated JPay.  The payments never got to him on time and I always followed their online chart.  the online chart does not allow for the specific routines at the different facilities.  I've not liked the m.o. idea either, these mailrooms can get backed up too often.  Now, I always use Western Union.  My husband told me when he was at Vienna, that there was one officer who "received" all the money at 7:30 every morning...  Where he's at now, they only "receive" Western Union payments three times a week.  I've learned their pattern and now we have a excellent track record of getting $ on his books at the right time.  I think you have to just learn the dynamics of the specific facility, they all seem to run a bit differently.  I try not to call his facility, and I depended on him to tell me how long it takes the other fellas to get their $ on the books and what method was used.  We figured out the pattern and now its good to go!  I hope that helps a little.  Good luck!

I spoke with the lady in charge of the drug program yesterday. I wanted to check the wait times. She said that they are two months out before there will be any spots open for new inmates to be able to start the program. Just wanted to let anyone waiting to hear about the program at Jville know.

Go to the main IPT home page and type in CONSOLIDATED COMMUNICATIONS in the search box. Everything about the phone service is listed there. You must use Consolidated to gets calls from your inmate.

Someone else just asked this question today about getting married from the work camp at Jacksonville.  You need to go to our Marriage in Illinois Prisons board, someone else posted that they also wanted to get married there.

I believe the guys have to go through a program before this can happen.  Call the prison and ask to talk to the Chaplin to explain and tell your LO to get the details from inside.

Good Luck!
