It's always been interesting to me the type of language (slang) that's used by inmates.  Here's a list I came across that is supposedly used in Illinois Prisons.  Do you have anymore to add: and translate?

Let me feel that
getting little
Case
joint
cellie
walk yourself
green
get your money
g-shot book
chow hall
on the new
bid
ride
stole on
lets count to ten
doodoo with cheese
rappie

Spice, I'm almost afraid to ask!!!!!!!  However, when the "in-resident" wakes up today I'll be pickin' his brain.....I'm sure he's got a whole bunch more of them for us....it is fascinating, isn't it?

From what I find it slang "for something generally unimportant yet still held dear."

Here's a few I've picked up from my guy:

salty = upset or angry
bug = crazy person
store = commissary
kite = note
write-out = stamped envelope

Isn't a Kite a request to talk to the counselor?

I believe it's any kind of note. My guy talks about other guys sending "kites" to his cell by way of the gallery worker.

It's an inmate who works on the gallery, cleaning or whatever.

A kite usually refers to an illegal note passed between inmates, however, it is sometimes used to refer to any note within the prison system.
