Ivanrs2, I feel you! It takes a real man to admit when they have done something wrong just like it takes a real man to listen to the wisdom of their wife and take time that they do not deserve to serve! My honey was facing 40 - 45 years, but he heard me and understood that I have his (our) best interest at heart. Blessings to you and your family!

Well I feel for those who should not be serving any time because of a corrupt system. It's hard to fight a system like that. All anyone can do is stand up and try to fight for changes within a system that doesn't always work. I read an article once that stated only 1% of inmates were actually innocent. I believe that amount is higher than what that article said, especially since DNA became available to prove ones innocence.

We want to see how many of our members have loved ones serving long-term sentences. In addition to the poll question, if you would like to also answer the year your inmate was incarcerated, the length of his/her sentence, and his/her institution, it would be very helpful.
Thank you.
don't know if it is too late to respond but my son was given 85 yrs. for murder and attempt murder on accountability

No, it's not too late...this is an ongoing poll. Myson I'm so sorry. There are others here with children with very long sentences. They are very supportive. You share a special pain that others may not understand. Welcome to IPT.

Dear Ms. BlueMist, God bless you. That is all I can say at this moment. I live very near East Moline, so when I read that, my heart kinda skipped a beat. I too, have lost sons. My husband and I understand but can never fully comprehend the pain you must feel. We lost the twins while they were infants. You had time to watch your boys grow into young men...your making me cry. I admire your obvious strength. When I grow up, I want to have long life, wisdom, compassion, understanding, and faith in my Lord just as you obviously do. You are a living example to us wives and mothers on how to do it with grace (under fire). God Bless!

You are obviously a strong and loving lady, and your son is lucky to have you! We all must do the best with what we have to work with, and this sight has gotten alot of resourceful and determined people in contact with one another. Dazz is the hub and all the rest of us spokes but together we have a stronger voice and presence to make some positive impact on our lo's lives and the lives of others are are facing similar challenges! God bless you as you wait, love and support you son...Griz

As difficult as it is for all of us responding to this question, I guess one can see it as a form of therapy. My brother got locked up at the same time my dad revealed to us that we were even related to each other. This was also at the same time I relocated to a different state. He got 25 years. About 14 more to GO.

Lord, how they have increase who trouble me! Many R they who rise up against me. Many R they who say of me, "There is no help for him in God." But You, O Lord, R a shield for me, my Glory and the one who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from his holy hill. Selah I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around Arise, O LORD; Save me, O my God!
