Good Evening everyone,

I have been doing sme digging on HR555, I know allot of us are very eager to get our calls lowered, just as New York has. Heres what I found.

In 2008 the HR555 bill died in congress. I spoke to the telecom director Christian Feljd at Congressman Bobby Rush's office in Washington he advised me that the congressman did re-introduce the bill ,m which is the Family Telephone Connection Protection Act the new Bil # is HR1133, the congressman will be discussing it next week with congress. To follow this bill it falls under the Communication Technology Universal Service  and Internet Sub-committee. The congressman is dealing also with the organization www.curenational.org as well as www.etccampagin.com both organization are dealing with this issue and assisting Congressman Rush with needed data. Currently New york Is paying $2.30 for a 15 min. We need to show them that Illinois residents are just as determined as New York residence were in their fight.

I hope everyone goes to these sites and responds, signs the petitions and sends their stories. Also going to your local congressman/woman and telling them your stories, showing them your high bills, and trying to get them to co-sponsor would really help the cause.

If I receive any further updates I will keep you posted. As i know how important this is to me, I know is equally important to all of you

This is a federal bill and until we have sponsorship of a state bill specifically for IDOC the phone charges in Illinois aren't going to be lowered.  Members need to get OUR petitions signed so when there's enough signatures we can approach STATE legislators to introduce legislation.
