OMG I'm actually embarrassed to ask this but as you guys will know I am a gotta know kind of girl.   I have read several times about the Yellow jumpsuit they wear fro transfers and R&C.   My Hubby IDOC pic (he is still in receiving) he is wear blue...  Now in county he got to sport that Bright orange.  I always laughed thinking at least if they sent him out in the woods during hunting season he wouldn't get shot by a hunter.  But that is just my twisted sense of humor.

So anyone know if there is a reason he is in blue or again is it just a fluke?

I have been looking at others who were received the day b4 him and the day after and 99 percent are in Yellow.  It is also making me sad to see a lot have already been transferred out.  Especially to Vandalia and Vienna.  Man I'm spending way too much time looking stuff up I know I'm driving myself crazy but i think I'm just about at my breaking point....  Truly i think I'm losing it now.

Thanks for any info anyone might have.   Again  I'm very aware that when it comes to IDOC there aren't really any "norms" persay.

What prison is he at? Does it say he's still in R&C?

Ernie, my guess might be, that his ID picture was taken before they gave him his yellow JS and it's in the top  he was shipped in from the county he came from into IDOC  wc13  wc14 ..  There are guys in R&C in different colored tops.

My guess would be they either ran out of yellow jumpsuits...LOL...or they've assigned the Farm as his home institution and the information hasn't updated.  There are lower security inmates that live on the farm at Stateville and have shorter sentences.  In any event, they don't have any orange jumpsuits in the IDOC.  Or they put a blue shirt on him for his picture...

There are no blue jumpsuits.  There are light blue shirts and dark blue pants...usual IDOC uniform.

Ernie,
Trust me, you are NOT crazy!! If you are, so am I!! I am doing the EXACT same thing looking at numbers that came before him to see if they are still in reception or if they moved!! My hubby went in 3 days after yours on the 19th. I see you are from dekalb! Thats where I was raised. If you need to talk you can send me a message since we are very close in distance and days. Maybe if our LO go to the same place we could carpool? I plan on going once a week wherever he is at.

My son had on dark blue shirt at first. Three weeks later I noticed his picture changed the a light blue shirt. The next day it was a yellow jump suit. I got a call that same day from vine he had been transfered. Now he has a light blue shirt on in his picture. I would suggest looking at the IDOC site every day and when you see the yellow it might mean he is getting transfered that day.

Inmates are not sent to parent institutions in the order they arrive at receiving....I think that's a big misunderstanding.  They are moved out when there is space available at the institution that has been chosen for them.  There are many different reasons why inmates are placed as they are....available programs, security level, etc......you can't determine they should have been moved because a number after them has been shipped out already....sorry, this is where the patience comes in....they will be moved eventually...

The light and dark blue shirts are used for regular uniforms...the dark blue are older, winter shirts.  The light blue is what most inmates are wearing for general population.  Yellow is alway used for transport.  Some prisons take the inmates pictures in the middle of the night when they first arrive, before ever being given the issued uniforms.

I have seen baby blue jump suits on inmates in the visiting room at Stateville.  I'm not sure what they are used for, but I've seen them.  I'll have to ask my husband, maybe he knows.

When I was at R&C, both times I was in a baby blue jump suit. Those things were so wore out. The velcro did not stick and they were always too darn big.

Are you talking about the inmates? Not sure if that is the question, but you can look them up on idoc's website using the inmate locator, if you go to the post ten steps when your loved one enters the idoc it will explain

My mans pic was taken in a brown suit, but the reason for that was he was in seg the day they took his picture. I remember because when I first went to visit him while he was in seg he was in this ugly brown suit, now he is in a light blue shirt and dark blue pants. This was at Western by the way.
