I'll be sending out an email in the morning to the entire membership and asking them to start making phone calls Monday morning at 9 a.m. I'll put all the details and phone number in the email. If we all start early and continue throughout the day they'll get the message....

Count me in. I'm ready to write, call, fax, and go in person to Springfield. Klisa, I'd like the information where you obtained this letter and how the father may be reached...? And with some further information from him I think we'll send out a mass emailing to all IPT members and ask everyone to contact the governor regarding the senseless deaths of inmates because of medical quackery....

This story hits me hard, it has been one of my fears since my son entered DOC. I cannot imagine what this family went through and will still go through. As a parent you want to protect your children no matter how old they are and to be put in a situation that you are told you can do nothing. This is devastating, sad and horrible. I feel for this family and want to do whatever I can to help. This story needs to be heard.

My name is Anthony Wooten and William Burhmester was my best friend and I loved him like a brother. No matter his wrongs in life, he was a human being and treated others as such. However, he was not treated like a human being, he was treated as a number like most other inmates at facilities all over the U.S. I am a former inmate at Putnamville Corr. Facility in Greencastle, IN. And have seen cases like this, that ended with same result. A senseless death. This time, I want to see justice served. These people like: Dr. Saro Gulani, Dr. Adrian Feinermen, and Dr. Leyland Thomas need to be punished far worse than what the law will allow. Billy was murdered. That's EXACTLY what it was... MURDER. And until a sense of peace has been brought to his family, who have suffered more in the last few years than I could possibly imagine, this will never be over for me. And it will continue to happen until the people responsible are brought to justice. We appreciate ANY help that anyone can offer. Kellie, if you read this, I'm in for the long haul.

Senseless and outrageous. The story needs to go out to the media, national as well as state. The men and women entrusted to the care of the state are supposed to be cared for medically as any other citizen of the state. The punishment for whatever crime they may have committed is losing their freedom - NOT risking losing their lives.
The IDOC and the union has completely dehumanized the inmates. This allows the staff to treat the inmates like animals and to justify their treatment as such. They are only interested in the money they make and the benefits they receive.
The really sad thing is, few people will care because the public, by and large, feels the same as the IDOC personnel. Which is why the IDOC gets away with what they do.

Last night I pulled the list for the general assembly. There are 118 people, 70 Democrats and 48 Republicans, there are 7 prison reform members on a committee. I pulled the Govenors office and the White House. I am mailing 127 letters out this morning to each and every one of them. I was furious when I read the original post and started a search last night. I hope these letters will add some sort of recognition of support along with the numerous numbers of phone calls to the Govenors office. This is a tragedy that could have been prevented by prison officials and they chose to ignore the signs. My prayers go out to the family.

I would also like to make a statement on this article in regards to the autopsy. After reading reports on autopsies I find it odd that IDOC would embalm him before the autopsy. The article I read on Discovery Health states that embalming before an autopsy can diminsh items in the blood stream, lightenen any bruising to make it appear the bruise wasnt that bad and several other factors.
..2:30pm.. - Ryan calls us and informs us the body has already been embalmed and that an autopsy will be performed at ..9:30 am.. on Friday.
I wonder why IDOC did this process 1st

how can you even test for toxins in the bloodstream after you embalm someone considering there is no blood left? this entire situation is such a outrage and i would be honored to send out any letters or call anyone i can for this situation because these bastards need to be brought to justice for killing this man.

This sounds remarkably like peritonitis which is fatal if not treated. It could of been caused by the original diagnosis. I just get so frustrated the more I learn about IDOC. This man should not have died in such an awful way, nobody to care for him, and nobody doing anything for him. I just hope that a campaign may prevent this sort of thing happening again but I won't hold my breath! Oh, and they surely will have covered the cause of death by embalming. Another cover up me thinks.

I think you're spot on EM...who embalmed him? The IDOC? That's outrageous...that's certainly overstepping their boundaries.
There could be many causes for his death...all preventable. If he was dehydrated and lost excessive fluid through diarhea, which is the primary symptom of bowel disease his electrolytes could have been depleted also...causing heart failure. If he indeed had Crohn's disease or ulcers in the colon these can eat through the intestines and make him septic...
I think we should push to have these doctors removed...censored, whatever we can do...they need charges filed against them...

I am a personal friend of the family and I am completely outraged over this senseless death! I am a disabled veteran and I can't imagine what I would be feeling if I could not get the medications I need to keep me alive!! I have forwarded all of the information on this situation to all my friends and am sending letters to every politician I can find! This has to be investigated and hopefully can stop this insanity from happening to someone else. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Terry and the entire family....

Are they even real doctors, where do they come from? Because the doctors where my husband is are such as insensitive and no real knowledge of anything.

They are the dredges of the doctor world...they are paid very little, hired by this Wexford company for peanuts...they probably have all been run out of their practices, if they even had any, and are probably hanging onto their licenses by a thread...they certainly don't seem to be following any physician's creed...it's all about saving money...they get rid of the conscientious doctors.
The sad part is...this happens quite frequently....they let inmates die from cancer without proper treatment...look what they've done to Montell Johnson? How about RT's cellmate? Last year several guys died from heart attacks that we know about...they were refused treatment...and on and on...and no one has cared....

Then there's the guy from Menard two years ago who was given a pacemaker for what ended up being an allergic reaction to the soy-based food products.

Yes, does anyone here know who would be the best source(s) for us to contact? I am sorry to say this, but politicians? I just don't know, I do not have a lot of faith in them. What is probably needed is someone with a lot of money to go after them, but whatever or whoever else can be contacted would be helpful. We have to try to do something so that they will think twice about doing this to someone else.

My heart goes out to the family of William and my deepest sympthay to all involved. This story makes me sick to the fact that they want to punish our loved ones and get in the media and talk a lot of bull----. Sorry for the language but I hear about this all the time and there seems to be nothing done. We elect these state officials and it seems that if it is not their own personal family then nothing is done. YES !!!! Shout it out to the media, news stations, radio and anybody who will listen and make them all aware that the officials ( Politicians and corrections alike) talk that garbage about they are here for the people and the minute someone asks for help then all of a sudden they can't. What a crock of crap. And the sad part of all this is you don't know who you can and cannot trust. Again I am very sorry for the family's loss, no matter where he was he still was a father, son, brother and friend of someone and therefore he mattered. I truly hope something comes out of this, I know it wont bring William back but someone else maybe spared and get the medical attention they need so this may not happen again. His Angel18

Im not a coroner, but it sounds like they wanted to get the embalming done fast so that it may get rid of alot of evidence in the body. That's the first thing I can think of.
