Wondering if anyone knows the direct phone number to GCWC off hand? Also, anyone who has been there, is it easily found off of Rt. 67? Hubby said he doesn't even think there is a walmart in Roodhouse, IL where the WC is at. He said it looks like a ghost town. Just wondering if it's difficult to find or is it situated in an obvious location?

Yes. They release inmates from the parent prison so when your lo is released, he will be taken to Jville the day before to sign all his paper work and then back to GCWC. Then the release day they drive them back over to Jville for release at 9am. They don't release from the works camps specifically. Pittsfield is one of Jville's work camps also. So anyone being released who is there goes through the same process of being released from jville. It works for me since it takes off about 30 minutes of the drive!

Hello all.  My l/o has been in IDOC since January 10, 2012.  He was in Stateville for 9 days then transferred to Jacksonville.  He was there for about 1 month and then transferred to GCWC.  I recently went to visit him (5 hour drive, thank goodness I have family by Springfield) 4 days in a row!!!!  I absolutely loved seeing him!!  BUT, the one officer that the other couple of posts were talking about really made me feel uncomfortable and actually yelled at me for asking to use the restroom before my 1 1/2 hour drive when our visit was over.  We had already said our goodbyes and she said that I can use the restroom if I didn't try to say goodbye to him again......Well, when I left, my l/o was sitting in the hallway waiting to be let back out and he said she was talking all sorts of nasty things about me.  I have never had a problem with visiting him anywhere.  She wouldn't stop staring at us no matter where she was in the room.  We are from the Chicago area and I've visited him a couple times in Cook Co and when he was in Jacksonville I went and saw him and everyone has always been so nice.  This woman was VERY disrespectful.  I was born and raised in S'field and I know how nice people are down there.  Everyone else was very nice, the men officers walked me to and from the gate and called me ma'am, just made me feel comfortable.  NOT her!!!  So, I reported it on the site where you can email different issues.  I sent that email on Tuesday.  Last night (Wednesday) she called my l/o out into the hallway and said to him, "Be sure to thank your loved one for sending that email because Springfield called me and thanked me for doing such a good job and to keep up the good work, and next time she comes to visit she should focus on the visit and not everyone else around the room."

This was an issue that I had with her.  To me, it was very childish and uncalled for that she went to him.  I am assuming she got repremanded and that is the reason for saying that to him.  Please, if there is anyone else that has had problems with this officer, send me an email with the date and details.  [edited out by admin - please PM ]    She needs to be put in her place.  My l/o told me, before the visit, that she sits outside the door on the nightshift and they aren't even allowed to talk or make a sound, he said that she is a very miserable person and takes it out on them.  THat does not sit well with me.
