I watched an interview with Cohen this morning on the news. He stated that after his then girlfriend sobered up, she dropped the charges against him and he never knew she was charged with prostitution. Guess the damage control has started as he stated he will not drop out of the race at Quinn's request.

They interviewed his ex-wife too and she had an order of protection against him because he gets violent. When asked why he screams at his children he said that's his way of parenting....what a class A jerk. This is what we get running our state, time after time....Frankly, I think Art Turner lost to Cohen because he's black.....so people of Illinois enjoy what you've elected again.....BECAUSE YOU DON'T DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!

Let's hope there is a way to get him removed from the ballot. This guy needs to be Lt. Governor like I need to have a checking account.....

Wow, I wonder what will happen, and if it will be anything beneficial to the people of Illinois? I like the idea about the politician paycut. I guess that would go over like a flock of dogs.

Well, this gets more weird every day. This Cohen is still refusing to step down and now even the Republicans are calling for him to get out of the race. They are talking about choosing Lt. Gov's much the same as the Pres/VP - running on a ticket together instead of these independent canidacies. Or, they mention eliminating the office altogether...
Sen. Dick Durbin (D) has voiced his opinion also. He's asking how this guy got on the ballot in the first place.
Cohen is claiming that he was just running with a 'wild' crowd five years ago and he's changed...he didn't know his blond bombshell girlfriend was a prostitute..... I personally wonder what all his violent, erratic behavior was caused by....hmmm...and where the hell did he get all that money to run for office from? I found out his profession is a pawnbroker....a nice blood-sucking profession.
His ex-wife is now saying he's a changed man...I wonder what that cost him?
The whole thing is just disgusting. But this goes to show how these crazy people wind up in office in Illinois....just get your name on the ballot and go for it....

Dazzler:
Thanks for the update. This guy sounds like a real winner . I like the idea of eliminating the office of Lt. Governor. I have wondered what the point was anyway? It seems that this office is just a waste of money. It seems the leadership in the state is "not there" anyway. Why pay two people to be "not there"?
It will be interesting to see what happens with this. :-)

Daz, Cohen has admitted to injecting steroids, and said that's why he was so violent. Okay, so now that makes it all better, right? This guy's nuts!

Yeah, I saw an interview....he's very cocky, not the least bit remorseful and thinks he's entitled.....and probably is salivating at the thought of some jerk pawnbroker taking over the governship one day....

Admitting to taking steroids.....Sammy and Mark did too....no baseball hall of fame for them.....no Lt. Gov. for Cohen either....both scenarios get a lot of money for doing absolutely nothing! Get out Cohen!

OMG - by now everyone should have seen the news clip of Cohen saying he'll step down....or should I say blubbering it....he couldn't stop sobbing and I'm not sure who's head was laying in his lap sobbing also...his son maybe? This is all too weird. I'll bet they found a lot more on him...like the fact that he met his girlfriend in a massage parlor where she was later arrested for prostitution with an undercover cop...I'm glad he's gone. But Art Turner should be immediately announced as the new candidate, he was the next highest vote getter. However I heard that the decision of a candidate will be made by the Democratic Party next month....by Mike Madigan....geesh....nothing like manipulating the outcome. Quinn is probably afraid a black guy as a running mate won't get HIM elected....and that's what it's all about. The Democrats are going to be lucky if they pull this out in November....

Anyone running for political office has an enormous ego and perception of self. However, I often question these "last minute discoveries" and their intent. I would say that the Republican party was definately behind the "oops" of Cohen.
On the other hand, Cohen or anybody running for public office would be a fool if they think that their personal indiscretions, and yes, that of their families (particularly children/wives/husbands) would not come to surface. He was blubbering like anyone who has been caught, probably like he was blubbering when he abused his gf and ex-wife.
Someone else, please cry me a river.

I know this is silly, however, I'm going to say it anyways, . Wouldn't it be wonderful to see some of these politicians behind prison walls, if only to feel and understand what life behind closed doors (so to speak) is really like. Would we have ANY of the problems our l/o's are facing now? I highly doubt it. What do you think?

I do not understand your question. There is NO good time freeze. The only good time that was stopped was the MGT Push which was the early release. Rick

I think there is still some mass confusion though throughout the prisons because prison counselors are telling inmates that they are not being awarded their blocks of 90's even if they have been on the grounds for more than 61 days and have good behavior.

I thinkI am going to see if there is some kind of clarification on this. I think we are being led to believe that ALL good time is suspended. I think asking IDOC to log on here and explain would not be out of line..... Rick

I do know at Big Muddy the counselors are telling inmates they are not putting in for good time as that time has been suspended for now. My husband got his first set of 90's right before they stopped putting in the time.
