I've used VINE right from the beginning...I knew the minute my inmate got on the bus...he always wondered how he could get mail before even telling me...LOL...I said I was a witch..

It's a great way to track the movement of your men/women.   I got three phone calls last week reminding me he'd be released soon.

Unfortunately, I've gotten them a few times, none telling me he's coming home though.   :(

It's updated pretty quick, I've gotten the information while he was still in transit.

I saw a message from VINE in my inbox today.

My brother is in prison, as is my son-in-law's father. I didn't know who was moving.

I was surprised to see that it was for my Lauren, saying she's getting out two weeks from today. Yay!

So I take it that registering via VINE to track an inmate doesn't cause any problems for the inmate, like it doesn't show up as some sort of horrible black mark on his record !

No downtown, I don't believe the DOC holds anything against the inmates....LOL...I do believe that they know we all use this service to keep track of our inmates, though.  I don't think it's a big secret...it's actually for anyone who wants to be informed of an inmate's movement, for whatever reason....no questions asked.

I'll try tio get you any help, when you've opened the map, you click on State of Illinois, than you get for search (by name or ID #), when this is found, click on detail and there is the place you can register.

I registered at this site to be notified. Can you tell me if they will notify me if he is swtched to a "sister" work camp site? My man is in Jacksonville right now and there is a possibility he will be switched to Pittsfield work camp this week and I want to make sure I know when this happens so I can hook my phone up to recieve calls from there if need be. I also need to know where to go and visit when I go next weekend.

Angl - I spoke to Jacksonville this morning and they inform me that Pittsfield is not on the Jacksonville Prison property.  It is located 40 miles west of the Jacksonville facility on I-72.  Their phone number is 217-285-2280.  Since it would involve transporting the inmates from Jacksonville to Pittsfield by bus, it should qualify as a VINE notification move.  Please let us know if you recieve a call from Appriss...VINE on this move.

One thing about vinelink... If you search the name and don't find anything, make sure to check by number. I've seen IDOC spell the last name wrong before...

Kamama explains this in a previous post in this thread...she said you must click on 'details' when you go to the Illinois map...does this help?  I believe there is also a place on the IDOC website's homepage to register for VINE.

Sister, try this one, it takes you right to the page to register.  Once you see his name, you MUST click on Details next to it, to register for notification.

I don't know if this is the problem, but sometimes web sites use popups and if you have them blocked it can cause strange behavior.  Also other security settings ... like if you are using Internet Explorer and you have the security set to high, that can sometimes prevent you from interacting with a web site properly.

Wow. I've been using vine for years, as my brother is in prison in Missouri. I have never had one move get past vinelink. I always knew.

Same here, my husband on a couple occasions was moved from Menard to Pontiac and back to Menard (within days) and Stateville to Pontiac and back to Stateville (within hours)...and I always received instant notification.

Some day they'll figure out they can't send him to Pontiac.  :-D

Well, I'm asking my own question today...LOL...does anyone know if VINE  can be used for County Jails?  My nephew was seriously beaten with a crowbar two nights ago.  The guy arrested is being held on a $150,000 bond out of Cook County and I'd like to be notified if he ever makes bond...anyone have an answer for me?
