Hi everyone, Im new to this site. I am outraged by what they are doing with the good time!! My husband and father to my 4 little girls is a victim of this situation. I am so happy someone made a petition, I signed it and passed it along. If there is anything else I can do please let me know.

Thank you for signing.  The most productive thing anyone can do is to get family and friends to sign it and remind Quinn that we are voters.  In a few short hours we've had 125 signees....that's fantastic...I hope it continues.

Illinois CURE has also joined as a sponsor....thank you Maddie, our member and president of Il Cure.

Dazz, fantastic job

I signed #245 and will forward to many as well.

One thought for the comment section ... I may be wrong but do not believe the issue of fairness resonates with the governor or his employees because they don't care about any of the individuals.

What should resonate is tying this to the overall budget issue and being mad as hell that he stops a program that could save significant money, while he cuts $1 billion + from education.

Tough on crime sounds great as a campaign pitch, until you realize it is being put on the state of illinois credit card that already has a 12 Billion dollar balance.

Cook County just announced it shutting down a portion of their jail because of lower inmate populations ... because low level non-violent offenders are being sent to IDOC.  Quinn needs to push back at counties sentencing 1-2 year's at IDOC, or begin charging counties directly.

The IDOC annual budget is $1.2 Billion per year for 44,000 inmates or almost $30,000 per year per inmate ... that simply doesn't make sense for non-violent offenders. Quinn needs to set a 3 year goal of reducing IDOC costs of 30% or $300+M

They just had a report on the ABC Nightly news, on how STATES are letting their inmates out early because of financial issues and here we sit, keeping OUR INMATES locked up ....  all because of politics!  ILLINOIS is also broke also, keeping these inmates locked up beyond their time is only feeding into this mess!

KEEP SIGNING THE PETITION !!  We have 310 signatures, but need many more to present it!

I just sent the link for the petition to my State Representative (who is on the HB5019 committee: HB5019 is the bill that is taking away the 180 days) as well as to another State Rep who lives in my hometown (another sponsor of HB5019).  I encourage everyone to do the same.  These people are the sponsors of HB5019.  Find their websites online and forward the petition!!

Rep. Dennis M. Reboletti - Kay Hatcher - Randy Ramey, Jr. - Sandy Cole - Sandra M. Pihos, Bob Biggins, Robert W. Pritchard, Raymond Poe, Rich Brauer, Bill Mitchell, Timothy L. Schmitz, William B. Black, Ed Sullivan, Jr., Jil Tracy, Michael P. McAuliffe, JoAnn D. Osmond, Dave Winters, Roger L. Eddy, Mike Fortner, Michael G. Connelly, Jim Sacia, Ron Stephens, Donald L. Moffitt and Patricia R. Bellock

My next step is to e-mail all members of the Judiciary II - Criminal Law Committee, where this bill is headed next.  I encourage all of you to the same!
