To subscribe to Stateville Speaks, send a check or money order for $10.00 payable to:

Stateville Speaks
2237 Sunnyside
Westchester, IL  60154

Subscription is $10 a year (4 regular issues plus specials from time to time) free to inmates but subscriptions are accepted.  For those here that wish to contribute but prefer to just read it here and have the money go to publication and postage needs for the paper, donations are accepted.

The issues of Stateville Speaks have been unlocked and printing and saving is allowed.

Note that Stateville Speaks relies strictly on subscriptions and contributions and it is not known from one month to the next if the publication will continue.  Even though it is free to inmates, I encourage all that can afford it, to send the $10 yearly subscription fee for your inmate's subscriptions to Bill Ryan so that this very important project can continue.  If your inmate is currently receiving a free issue, and you decide to do this, please inform Bill when you write, that you are switching from a free subscription to a paid, so double issues are not sent out.

Thanks,

All the back issues are posted here, you can download them, print them and send them to your son.  As we get new issues they are posted as well...but subscriptions and/or donations are sorely needed in order for the newspaper to continue.

Anybody can submit an article, just send them to Bill Ryan at the same address you would send your subscription.

Thanks!

Hello all, my question is "How can I sign someone up to receive Stateville Speaks?" The director of the Hospitality House in Chester received a letter from someone talking about the "CER" she had questions but I was unable to give her the correct answers. I believe she only got half of the info. One question was "Did they changed the HJR80 to CER?"  She doesn't have a computer but I informed her that I will do my best at trying to get her as much info as possible. She is excellent in giving info to the guests that are there visiting with their loved ones. I will make copies of the subscription request and take them to her. Does any one have any other suggestions if so please share them with us.

I'm not sure...I just went to the link and when you click on purchase (or whatever) it brings you to paypal...so you would need a paypal account.  I also didn't see where you would put the address information (maybe because I already have a paypal account), not sure...smf?

Paypal emails the address of the accountholder. If you buy a subscription for someone else using the on-line form, just email info@lt3p.org and let them know it was a gift subscription and give the new address.

I sent my $10 dollars and paid through paypal and have never received any subscriptions.  Who do I need to talk to, so I can make sure I do receive the next issue when it comes out.

Ok so maybe I'm blonde but is there a monthly Stateville Speaks newsletter that the inmates can get or do I need to pay the $10 to have him get it because they are not giving it out at Robinson.  The only ones he has gotten are the ones I have printed off of here for him.

Any response is appreciated.

.Stateville speaks is free to prisonrs but donations are gratefully accepted. Subscriptions info in stateville speaks.  SS is printed three times a year. the august issue is being mailed as we speak and should be reaching folks soon.
What do you mean, "they are not giving in out at Robinson"?

The very first post in this thread tells you how you can order it for your LO.  As Bill indicated, it is free for prisoners, but if you can swing the $10 for a year subscription, that helps out the paper and enables them to continue publishing it.  Refer to the first post and send the $10 to Bill if you have it.

It is not being offered at Robinson Correctional Center to the inmates and my man wants to receive it.  I guess I'll just have to print them off of this site and send them to him b/c if I pay to have it sent to him there he probably wouldn't get it.  We've had a real problem with his mail.  Certain magazines that I have sent to him and I now make a list of what I send, they have gone missing.  Don't know if the C/O's are reading them first of what the deal is but I paid for those and I want him to have them.  Pisses us both off.

Any other suggestions.???

I will send the $10 as soon as I can.

Thanks.
