I know that they can have 2 weekend visits and 3 week day visits a month. The week day visits have to be scheduled 7 days in advance by your L/O. Not a lot of info but I am going to visit Sunday for the first time so I will post more when I get home.

Ok so I had my first visit with my son today. Pittsfield is a nice and friendly place. They can have 5 visits a month, 2 weekend visits and 3 weekday visits but the weekday visits have to be scheduled 7 days in advance by your L/O. You need a $5.00 bill for the card to buy from the vending machines. You can stay 4 hours but I was there longer today and they didn't say anything. It is a nice visiting room. I seen people playing cards and kids playing with some toys so I guess those are available. They have unlimited use of phones from 10 to 10 everyday. My son said that everyone is very friendly and the Co's are nice. The sad thing about it is they only offer Prue GED classes, so my son is unable to take any kind of classes to reduce his time because he graduated high school so he does not need his GED. He has put in a request to be sent back to Jacksonville to be able to take some classes but his counslor has told him that she dont see this happening before his release date (10/09/11) because they have very long waiting lists.

I saw hubby yesterday at the work camp. We were talking about parole and he said that he thinks they got rid of parole school at the work camp. He said several of the guys who have been recently released didn't have parole school, they just had the PO come talk to them to give them instructions the day before their release. He said the woman who used to teach the parole school there has been re-assigned to teaching a new career type class that is going to start up at the camp the 3rd week of August. He said that career/computer class is the only other class being offered at the actual camp right now along with the GED program.

The first food vending machine in the visiting room is out of service and has been for the past several weeks. The 3 top rows of the chip/candy vending machine are not working so you have to select from the rows below it.

Pittsfield work camp dorms ARE air conditioned.
