So it no longer says Reception and says In Custody but the location is still Graham R&C.  His counselor told me he will stay physically at R&c until he sees the board but does the change to in custody mean he may be allowed phone calls or visits now?

Shoot, it seems no one knows the answer.  I know it was wishful thinking but I was really hoping this meant I could visit soon.

If he is still in receiving then he will not be allowed phone calls or visits.  My l/o was there for over 30 days and could only write out and receive letters.  Sorry for the not so good news.

If his status has changed from R&C to GP at Graham, he maybe allowed visits.  Please call his counselor and ask, that's your best bet!

Good Luck, hope you get to see him soon.

Thank you for your response.  I just phoned the counselor and they said that as long as he is still in the X house that he could not have visits but may be moved to the General Population now and then would be allowed visits.  So, I guess I will continue to recheck the site often and hopefully that will change very soon!

Yes, I am signed up on Vine.  I sure hope he doesn't move from Graham though because that is where he is slated for his PRB hearing on the 28th and I would hate for him to loose that slot.  I am not sure if his list has been approved yet or not.  The last letter I received where he spoke about that he said that he put me on his visiting and phone list.  But I do not know if they have been approved yet.

Oh, I must have typed something misleading.  I am not receiving any phone calls.  I am also not able to visit.  He is listed as "in custody" but still in R and C.  The counselor told me as long as he is in R and C that  I cannot visit or get calls.

How do you know your loved one is not in general population, and that Stateville not his home institution?  If you are receiving consistent phone calls, it sounds like Stateville is his new home. What does the IDOC site for him?

I am  former IDOC inmate and when I was at Dwight in reception I was allowed to make one phone call a week.  The reason we were told that they were allowing this was because of the extended time one was having to stay in intake due to the over crowding.  Some females are in intake for nearly 90 days.  Most are moved in 60 to 70 days.  It took me 67 days to get moved and after my first month in intake I was allowed phone calls-one call a week on the weekend.  We were also able to shop one time a week, after we were cleared from medical.  If anyone has questions concerning Dwight reception or Lincoln I would be glad to help.  Hope this helps someone

He was telling me he was on lockdown all day  and usually reception is on lockdown and on IDOC it said reception, but it was probably because that wasn't his 1st time there and already in the system

Hi Everyone,
My husband was sentenced to 4 yrs, was held at county for about a month, and transferred to statesville r&c last week- I am reading mixed answers on here-- will he get a phone call or be able to write? I have been told no visits/calls while there, but that he could write one letter in the first 30 days? I have registered with CPS just in case, but am anxious to know if I will get to hear from him. I was told that he could be there for up to 90 days, but have read on here that some people are only there for a week? Any insight on this? Also, his inmate info on the IDOC website has the wrong date for when he began his sentencing-- do I contact Statesville about that or someone else? Also (sorry for all of the questions, new to this) he had received 2 for 1 credit on days spent in county while awaiting sentencing, was that just because it was pre-sentencing or is that the standard for time in county? Thanks so much for any help/answers.

Welcome to IPT.. You have asked alot, will try to answer as much as we can.

If he can get a write out, maybe he had some when he left county, he will be able to write you and sometimes they allow the guys one call before they get their *Pin #*,  you might get that, but don't count on either, it will be a surprise if you get eitherone.

If he is waiting for boot camp, he could be there 90+ days, if not he could be moved within 30 days.

His information on the website will be updated in time, they have to figure out just how much time he is eligible for being in county, but the 2 for 1 is not correct, they only get credited for the amount of time there, not double, so if he was in county 30 days he may get credit for that. Once IDOC figures it all out, they then will change his out day on his profile page.

If you have not done so already, I suggest to read our    TEN STEPS TO UNDERSTANDING IDOC PROCEDURES here:

It will let you in on some other things you may want to do, to prepare yourself for your journey with IDOC.  Make sure you sign up for VINE.
