Are the only I.D's they will take your drivers license and state i.d? My state I.D has to be renewed and I really don't want to pay the 28 dollars to have it done (lol, I'm cheap) so I'm trying to find out if there's something else i can use instead.

Call and speak to someone in the gate house about what ID's they will accept. Some prisons will take a social security card, birth certificate, student id or voter registration. But you definitely must have a picture ID.

At most of the prisons, for the first visit, you need two ID's but only one has to be a picture ID. After your first visit, you'll only need your picture ID (Drivers License or State ID card, for example)

You can call to ask, but like was said above... Usually S Card, birth certificate, etc. Only 1 has to have your picture.

sudent ID worked for me as a seconf form of identification. I think the two cannot be DL and ID, the second has to be from different "source". But if you are not sure, just call the prison and ask for visitation.

Menard has required me to have 2 forms for every visit. I use my DL and SS card.

It would be so much easier if the IDOC rules were straight across the board but such is not the case. That's why sometimes it's just best to call the facility and ask. There's probably nothing worse than making that long drive and getting turned away.
