Hello....my fiance is currently in Stateville Northern Reception...has been there since Dec. 23, 2011....he is supposed to get bootcamp but we haven't heard much...I have written him plenty letters he hasn't received any....I got 2 letters so far from him and he can call saturdays although they allowed him a call on Tuesday Jan. 17, 2012...I am just trying to get an estimate on when he will be transferred to bootcamp...also upon his release will he be placed on house arrest? How does that work as far as him being on house arrest at home with his family ( me and our daughter)?
Hi MrsB, I'm glad you found IPT because it's the only thing thats kept me sane through this process, and I KNOW it will be a saving grace for you as well. It sounds like your fiance and my boyfriend entered Stateville around the same time on their wait for boot camp. My boyfriend got there on Dec. 15, 2011. In my experience it has taken about 3 weeks for my boyfriend to receive my mail, but I think that was because he got there so close to the holidays and the mail must have been backed up which is probably why you are experiencing the same difficulties. I get his letters about 4 days from when they are post marked though. That is GREAT that you got a call from him! I just got my first phone call from my bf today and he's been there 37 days! I'm so glad you got to hear his voice, as it's so hard not having contact with the man you love. When it comes to the question of how long the wait is for BC, it's a tough pill to swallow. It sounds like it's 90 - 110 days. That estimate is different for everyone though as you will read on this site. Some people go faster than others. When it comes to house arrest, I have read that it lasts for 90 days and they are on an ankle monitor during that time. Other than that, I don't know a lot as my BF and I are from another state and I am dealing with a lot of other complications when it comes to getting him paroled here, where he has lived his whole 30 years of existence instead of in IL where we know no one. If you get any info about that PLEASE let me know. I wish you and your family the best, and fastest way through this trying journey - Katherineb

katherineb, you might want to start reading on this board. It is our Interstate Compact Board, the information he/you are going to need to try to get his parole back to your state: http://www.illinoisprisontalk.org/index.php/board,31.0.html

My fiance arrived to stateville on october 17th. He is still not approved for bootcamp and its getting hard to bear. I cant any information from anyone at stateville and springfield hasnt been of much assistance either. I just wish I had a better idea of when he would actually be leaving. It has already been 97 days. This is such a hard process. Praying that it will be over soon.

Have you talked to a counselor at Stateville? Or Bootcamp Bob in Springfield? I'd talk to Bootcamp Bob since he is in charge of all that. My son was approved for bootcamp about a month after arriving at Stateville. 97 days and still not approved doesn't sound right. Something is wrong there.

He was last on the list but didnt get a chance to move in the dorm style room, if they are leaving soon does that mean he still have a chance to go to even though there wasnt room in the dorm. Please help, im so confused

My BF was moved to the dorm style rooms right around the same time your lo was almost taken on Valentines day. When I spoke to him today, he said that they DO move some guys directly from isolation to BC as he has seen it happen. I hope this helps. Also, I was wondering if anyone could let me know how long most people stay in the dorm style rooms before moving to BC?? Thanks so much!

Hello, So my bf is still in R&C in Stateville awaiting BC, today is day 82, and he was recently moved from isolation to the dorm style area (on Feb. 14th).
Today, all of the men in the dorm area were assigned jobs in 4 - 5 hour shifts where they clean and hand out meals to other inmates and things of that nature. Anyway, I spoke to my bf this evening after his first day of work and he told me that when they make the meals for the inmates in isolation, they make trays for ALL of the cells as if they were at maximum capacity regardless of if there are people in the cells or not and then when the extra (untouched) food is returned to the kitchen, it is simply thrown away. My bf said that they threw away close to as much as they served (he was talking on the scale of hundreds of trays of food thrown away, not just a few and that was only for the wings he served today). This blew me away because the men in isolation are literally starving in Stateville. I understand that they did something wrong, but is forcing them to starve when there is clearly enough food to go around the right thing to do? No wonder Illinois prisons are broke! After close to a century in the corrections business you'd think they would have this type of thing under control by now.
Anyway, I'm not complaining about my BF's situation because he really likes working. He says it helps him pass the time faster and working in the kitchen is great because they get to eat some of the extra food. So I'm not complaining about that at all, it's just upsetting for me to know that all that food is going to waste only a few feet away from hundreds of starving men.
Maybe there's a reason for it. Maybe they are legally obligated to have enough food for all of the cells if there are people in them or not and maybe once the food has left the kitchen it cannot ever be served again? Thats the best reasoning I can come up with. Who knows. Just thought you all would be interested.

When my LO called me last week he said he didn't know when he would be able to go to BC. He said that a lot of people have been waiting for longer than 90 day (I really hope he doesn't have to wait longer than that). I just hope he doesn't give up on the whole waiting game. Believe it or not I am such a dork I actually have my phone set to go off at every 30 day mark that he has been in stateville. Saturday he hit the 60 day mark, today makes 62 days.

Hello Everyone...my fiance finally has left Stateville and he is now at Vienna. He waited 122 days in NRC and it was so hard but we have come too far to stop now. Vine called me and emailed me once he made it so that does work. I encourage everyone to register with them. Now I have new questions since he has been moved. If anyone knows when he begins the actual bootcamp process because from what I've been reading Vienna is the parent prison to Dixon Springs Boot Camp Program and he still has to wait on a bed?? I'm not sure, I just wish this would end already. The waiting is horrible and I know its a thousand times worse for him. Please let me know any more info for this stage in the game it woudld be greatly appreciated.

MrsB ,
He could be held at Vienna for 1 day to 2 weeks. How ever from what I have been reading It sounds like they are moving them faster now to the BC once they have gotten to their Parent Institute.
Don't worry you will get the call soon telling you that he is in BC. That is when it really gets nerve racking, but like I tell everyone the end results are well worth the wait.
Good luck and God Bless. Angela
