I have 2 vending cards from BMR.  I'm not sure how much is on them.  Does anyone know where the cards come from originally and can we call them for reimbursement?
Thanks

I did a little research after I posted my question and guess what?  You can get refunds.   wc6  I found out that Canteen in East Peoria, Illinois takes care of the vending machine cards for IDOC.  I explained that I had two with funds still on them.  She said all I have to do is mail them in along with an explanation of what I want/need done (Received from IDOC facility, want a refund and where to send the monies).  She said once they receive that then they will send me a check in the mail.  Since I live just across the river from them I can also take them over there and they will either cut me a check there (if possible) or send me the check in the mail.  This makes me very happy.   wc6 I know I have about $40.

I looked up Canteen address on the web and this is what I found for anyone who needs it:

Canteen
3612 N. Main St.
E. Peoria, Il  61611
309-699-3971

I am glad for you, because graham's vending cards are not from there and it states on the card no refunds... just a little research can save a lot.

Logan's vending cards are not from that vendor either.  I think each individual prison has its own local vendor.

monstor Well dang, I thought this was a treat and it was a trick instead.  I went to Canteen.  They only refund for The Hill in Galesburg and Illinois River in Canton.  For Big Muddy the vendor is Pepsi.  I'm waiting to hear back from them now.  Once I do, I'll keep you all updated.  What I have on these cards is entirely too much not to be refunded.
Thanks

If you call the prison that your vending card is from - the business office can tell you who that vendor is for that particular facility.

wc6 Oh yeah, I finally got a right answer.  Well at least I hope I did.  For BMR the vendor is Pepsi MidAmerica in Marion  618-993-2136.  The young lady was extremely nice.  You send in your cards along with a letter of explanation and return information.  They will process the refund and voila, money back in hand.
Thanks

Most prisons will let you leave vending cards up at the desk for visitors who do not have the money to purchase a card.  No they will not reimburst you for funds left on the card, but it is a nice gift for someone who cannot afford one.

Icu
I wouldn't mind helping another in that situation, but I don't believe the cards would ever make it to another in need. I was on a visit one time and someone left their card in the machine.  The C/O found it after she left.  She later came back in to see if anyone had found it and the C/O lied and then kept it for himself.  Told the other C/O they'd have dinner later.  wc21

I definitely want to pay it forward and if I have money left on my BMR card when DJ gets transferred, I'll make sure I give it to someone who also happens to be on a visit that day.  I want to pay it forward and have to say a big thank you to some guy last week who was taking his brother home after 18 years.  The machine wouldn't take my $20 bill and I asked this guy if he had change.  he only had $14.  i was willing to take the $6 loss but he insisted I just take his $14 and keep my $20.  THANKS KIND SIR!!!!!!  Your generosity and compassion is greatly appreciated especially after my view of society lately.
