Hi, My LO lost his phone privleges at Logan, not sure what the reasoning is this time..last time it was for having a broken hot plate and not reporting it right away or something equally ridiculous along those lines. My question is if they lose the phone do they lose visits as well? I called Logan this morning to ask and all they could tell me what that his phone was restricted and they didnt know if he could have visits or not. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I have a visit coming up in 2 weeks so im kinda nervous now not knowing if ill actully be able to or not...

Hmm, usually they lose phone privileges for abusing the phone...they have plenty of other things to take away first...like commissary...I guess you'll have to wait and see if writes to you and tells you why...he's not in SEG is he? Usually he's committed a big offense to lose all his privileges like that....unless it's just a brief suspension of calls....you might call the Internal Affairs Office and ask if they could tell you anything.

I have a L/O at Logan and he is constantly being hounded by other inmates requesting that he make a 3-way call for them because their families do not have accounts with Consolidated. It is illegal to do this, and the inmate placing the 3-way call would lose their telephone privileges if caught. I'm not saying that is what happened, but that is one reason they would revoke privileges.

Or passing information about another inmate to anyone...or phone sex, there's a whole bunch of things that could be the reason...

Maybe he's been placed on a C-grade for some time, that's why they took away his phone priveleges temporarily... Who knows. If the prison doesn't know if he's allowed visits or not, than I don't know what to do... I wouldn't go if I did not know for sure, unless it's not far away from you.

If he lost his phone because of a hot pot, they put him in C Grade. Ask him how long.

I can think of a few minor reasons he could have lost his phone... I just worry when I dont hear from him bc Im soo far away. Im planning on visiting him in 2 weeks and I dont really want to make reservations for the rest of my trip until i know for sure he can have visits. I plan on calling Logan again next week and hopefully get an answer.
What is c grade exacly? I did a search for it and it says loss of phone, yard and commissary, is that correct? Right now my main concern is his visits, i hate not talking to him but honesly its saving me a few dollars and as long as hes not hurt or in serious trouble, not a super huge deal at the moment..plus being able to see him in person is wayyyy better than a phone call any day! :-)

Even inmates in SEG are allowed visits...they just might be behind glass....so go ahead with your plans...

But those visits would be reasticted. I mean, once I went for a visit on Sunday, and it turned out my husband was in seg, soooo... They are allowed visits alright, but only on weekdays and before 1 pm, and only for an hour and behind glass!!!!! They did not let me see him. For C-grade they are not allowed weekend visits. At least that's how things are in Taylorville. So honestly, I would not go so far for an hour visit behind tha glass... I would rather wait and go for a normaal visit....

Just wondering, is all seg. visits behind glass at all prisons. I don't see an area at BMR for it. They do have rooms across the hall from the visiting room though.

Does c grade automatically = Seg ?? When I called they said he wasnt in seg, his phone was just resticted. I plan on calling again tomorrow, hopefully I can speak with someone who can answer all my questions & i can finish planning this trip! The last time i saw him was when he was shipped back here to Massachusetts to wrap up what charges he had pending to get things all concurrent w. IL, it was behind glass with a phone...Not fun but like i said i havent even seen him in over a year and ill take what I can get! :-) Hopefully i can get a regular visit complete with a big 'ol hug! Fingers crossed!

C grade doesn't automatically mean he's in SEG...but he's lost a considerable amount of privileges, probably phone, commissary and movement. An inmate that's at full grade is A grade. There's also B grade, minor amount of loss of privileges....He'll have to spend the same amount of time in B grade, when he's through serviing his C grade, before he'll be placed back in A grade....they have to go through the steps...hopefully he didn't also lose any good time.

I had no choice when my LO went to seg. I already had a trip planned from Europe and couldn't cancel, so I was going anyway. We had 2 visits of 2 hours thanks to a nice CO. I was happy that the trip was planned because it meant so much for him to get a visit while there. It was hard to see him in shackles, but we had such an amazing visit, we grew so much closer, I'm glad I didn't have a choice to delay my trip. I feel blessed for every second I get to spend with him, wouldn't want to miss it in the world, no matter where we are. But anyway I hope you get a regular visit!! =)

Hi everyone :-)Just a lil update. My LO called me today (after spending a VERY fustrating morning trying to get answers...) !!! Apparently he was put into medical isolation last monday for a week bc he ended up with shingles, not sure how but he was put on medication & is a lot better and my trip is still on! His phone was never taken away come to find out.. ugh. So everything is good again and i can stop worrying now! :-) Thank you all for your help in getting me through this, it really is hardest when there is no contact with our LO's!
