Possible when there is a drastic change in appearance.
I have heard once a year, around the date they were incarcerated or birthday.
But I don't think there is an 100% answer. I am sure if there is someone will be along to answer.

My guy got a new pic shortly after the one year mark of his incarceration, not his birthday. If your bf got there in October 2010 it's still possible he could be getting an updated one soon.

Yeah, I'm not sure of the exact dates for new pictures either. C gets his new ones in May, but, both his birthday AND incarceration date are in May.

My boyfriend will be at sheridan a year this month. I guess they get a new picture at every year mark but im not sure. He had his birthday a couple months ago and they didnt update it so its not for their birthdays

I think it's mainly the one year mark of incarceration. The update if a change in appearance is correct but when it is done for that reason the inmate has to pay to have it done. At least at BMR that is the way.

I didn't know they were allowed to smile! C is sooo gonna hear about that one! I asked him to give me a little smirk (at least) last year and he did. This year though, ugh, it's horrible!  I may have to beat him now that I know he's allowed to smile haha. |

Yea, he 1st went to Logan as Temp (18th) yellow suit, new pic to stateville R&C(20th) yellow suit and they changed his weight. yesterday with and olive suit still in R&C and today at Logan, olive suit. Im assuming this is now his parent prison because he did not catch a new case but, his parole date is still to be determined. Dont know but he might be in seg....And your sure can tell that they are not eating much, such drastic changes in profile as the weeks went by just hope this is it and I can get a phone call and visit and he can get commisary. He violated his parole beacuse he didnt want to be on restrictions with house arrest. And he was able to send me a letter dated the 26th and he was placed on the 19th in Stateville R&C. so like said it all depends. |

eh, he's not in trouble haha. I just don't think he realizes he's allowed to smile. He's said on numerous occassions that he wishes he had better pictures than the mugshots. I've even photoshopped some and put him in different backgrounds (and twisted the corners of his mouth into a smile haha). Did one with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, he still says I think he's gay |
