If I remember right from reading previous posts I think it's around 60-70 days. You might try reading the posts under boot camp to see if you can find out more accurate information. I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you more information. Good luck to you.

Well I'm here but not sure I can give you a definitive answer....the wait is usually much longer than waiting for a home prison...the bootcamps are full.  But it's always a guess as to how long your LO will have to wait...and it's the hardest time for him and his family to endure...Courage is right, if you go to the bootcamp board a lot of members post how long it took for their LO's to get assigned to the bootcamp...welcome to IPT...you'll find lots of encouragement and support here from people with the same situation as yourself.

 Welcome    Niesee20,

d.n.j and craigsmom are Farly new with a LO waiting for Boot Camp. GO to the Boot Camp Board and you should be able to estimate a time from their postings. Hope that helps you get an idea.

Have a good day. Angela

Wow, thats a very long time to have patience. Did ur lo get a chance to write u a letter. That is my big concern because I am worried that he feels like he is alone. I have been writing him and havent heard anything back yet. Have ur lo gotten a chance to call u. If so how does that work? Who do I contact to set up an account so that I can recieve calls when he get a chance. Sorry for all of the question. I am jus worried.

Niesee R&C is the hardest time for everyone. It's great that you are writing to him, keep doing it even if you don't hear from him. It will help him get through this very tough time. He won't be able to write to you unless he gets a write-out (stamped envelope) & paper. He may get lucky and someone will give him one, but maybe not. I don't think they're allowed commissary until they are there a certain amount of days (I don't recall the number)? The only phone service for IDOC is Consolidated Communications, you'll find a link for them on the main menu. I believe there is also a waiting period before they are allowed to make a call. Best wishes to both of you. I know it's hard to believe, but it will get a little easier once he's placed. Hang in there.  turkey1

yes he write me once a week unless he runs out of envelopes. Which only happen twice. But keep writing even though you dont get a response. I write my lo 3 times a week if i get a letter or not. He said its very helpful that i send him several letters.

Hey, my lo have been sittn in stateville r&c so im goin through the samething. Dnt worry everybdy is here for you. This is a wonderful site with lots of info, and families goin through the samething. So just hang in there. If your lo is in stateville r&c awaitn on bootcamp the time frame is about 2-4 mths. if he never been in idoc he has to wait for a pin # for call outs. And your number has to be approve so jus make sure money is on your phone account with Consoildated Communication. The time frame for the number to get approve usually take 2wks-a month. He will not be able to write you unless he trade food for a write out. Other than that write him daily, as of right now mail is caught up in the mailroom.

Awaiting for bootcamp is the most stressful part, but you have to be patience. Time can sooner it all depends on the bedspace at the camps. Hopefully I answered your questions. If not the answers are all over thos site.Take some time and get familar with the site. I promise you will be addicted, because I am and its only been a week 3days since my lo been in stateville r&c.

Corinne,

My fiance arrived to Stateville on the 17th as well.  From what I have learned, even if there is money on the books, they cant 'shop' during Receiving & Classification.  I called over there and they said they have to be there 61 days before they can have a visit. Also, according to my phone call with Consolidated, it will be at least 2 weeks before they can call home.  My L/O was in the county for 7 months prior to being transferred on Thursday morning.  Except for your boyfriend going to boot camp, I am in the same boat as you.  I am used to hearing his voice EVERY DAY and receiving tons of letters.  This is definitely a huge change for me.  I just keep pulling up his updated picture and I wait for the next call saying that he has been moved again through the VINE system.

Good Luck.

Aww Corinne!! It will get better.. I have my good and bad days too.  One day at a time.. Dont look at the whole picture.  It can be overwhelming.

Right now I use these pages to keep me busy and sane.  I might have to find another outlet soon but for now, this is helping quite a bit on keeping me informed and knowing that there are others that are going through the same thing and they are supporting what we on the outside are going through.
