I just spoke with the counselor where my husband is at, they said there is nothing going on with bringing good time back and that it doesn't look like anything is going to happen for a long time. I'm trying to figure out the whole "system" as all of this is VERY new to me. I'm also surprised to see that others have not notified their state representative if that is what we need to do in order to get things going in the right direction. What do we even say to our representative when we call? Do we simply state that we support Bill HB3899 and would like to see it passed? Any updates or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Chrissie, Where is your husband at. I like that the counselors are not lying them like they are at alot of the other facilities. My l/o is at Lawrence and he said the counselors there are saying it is. I told him don't listen to them. I find it sad that they can get away with lying to them.

US Senator Dick Durbin .. would this be the correct person to contact? I did some reading, because I'm of course not in Illinois, so I want to know who I'm talking to. He's a democrat who's involved with human rights. I'll be calling his office in Springfield tomorrow after work. Now, my l/o is a SO, so this doesn't apply to him. Therefore, I can't just call them with his story and beg them to pass the bill. Do I just call them and say "Hi, I'm calling in support of HB3899, and would like to hear a little on Senator Durbins feelings about this bill." Or do I just go into the why's of passing it?
Just in case anyone needs his info, it is as follows:
8:30 am to 5 pm (217) 492-4062

sorryContacting senator durbin or biggert or any other national legislator is of no value. HB3899 and HB 3900 areSTATE issues. Contact state representative. I believe somewhere on this thread is a link that will led you to the legislator. I am sorry SO are eligible for good time. Maybe could talk to legislator about issues related to SO and simplymention HB 3899,3900 anyway anything to help educate state legislators is positive

Thank you and one more question: In the past, good time was 180 days total, or (2) 90 day allotments--correct??? Would this still be the case here??

The counselor is correct. Nothing will happen uinless there is an outpouring of support from family members and other. Prisons and good time is NOT a priority for this administration. DOC is not the problem/. If we can get legislature to pass HB 3899 and hb3900 then something should happen Again contact state representative and ask them to support hb 3899 3900 ask for an appointment and tell your story and where this is important legislation. Next year is an election year and most legislators will be looking not to take positiion but we can make a difference if we work. I will spend some time in Springfield and there will a hearing and at that hearing we will need at least a hundred folk. so family members and IPT do ti

So these are NOT who we should be contacting, then? Now I am confused????

rubyslippers: scroll further down the page after you put your zip code in the search.
The two senators from Illinois are:
Sen. Durbin, Richard [D-IL] Sen. Kirk, Mark [R-IL]
The representative for Illinois’s 3rd congressional district is:
Rep. Lipinski, Daniel [D-IL3] District 3 Map
*This is for my congressional district (IL3)....

I have added that link to the other post also. I am sorry, I didn't even check that link and realize is wasn't for State Reps!
Everyone needs to be contacting their STATE Representative, just go to the above link and put in your address/zip code and the name of your Rep should come up!
Bill do we know when this meeting will be, you said Springfield? We need people to think about maybe trying to be there!! Will there be a Chicago meeting too?
