May be beating the dead horse here...My son has filed a post conviction petition. We/He is trying to get his sentence reduced or get a trial. Yes, he did plead guilty and took a deal. He got 15 years at 85% class x felony. He was 17 and now is 21. He got his ged and is now taking college classes. Is there anyway to get him a trial at this point in his sentence??? He was too late in filing his original appeal..and filing on grounds that his attorney did not fully explain to him and his age and he was intoxicated while questioned and no attorney at the time due to thanksgiving holiday and anyways that was denied. Is there anything we/he can do? If we hired an attorney could he somehow get a trial that he never got?? I just cant sit still until 2020!!! I want to at least try.

Anybody have suggestions...I have tried ...

He can also go to the law library and the prison legal will help him with this.

My boyfriend got the exact same thing as your son :( took a deal for 15 years at 85% class X and no good time for school or nothing :( My LO is in for attempt murder. Not sure what your son is for. But I also will like to know if there is any way my LO can come home early as well. He is in GED classes now and planning on taking College classes. I think he may signed up for it already. Not sure. But my LO is afraid that they will deny him early time and give him more time. Due to the fact he got a 15 year deal instead of doing the 40+ years he was goign to get. So once again. Anyone think there is a chance my LO can come home a little early? Parole year 2018 and release date 2022 :/

LovinDB- Hey can you give me some info about that lawyer and how much you payed and stuff. I want to try and get my LO out early too :( Thanks :)

Be very careful and do your research on any lawyer you may get.  We have had members post of some very bad experiences with lawyers taking their money and them doing nothing!
