If he hasn't already submitted his parole paperwork he will be doing that, to get his parole site approved and then he will be going through Pre-Start Classes (Parole School) and meeting with the PB.

I am not sure under what circumstances he is being released, if on a EHM device, you will have to get a phone line put in just for that, if he is paroling to your house.

During his pre-start class, he will be given some general rules to follow. Within a couple days of being home, his parole officer will give him the specific rules he has to follow (movement, check-ins, needed classes, etc.). He MUST stay at home until the parole officer comes to see him.

They will not release him earlier then his parole date. He will be told all his parole rules, and will know what he needs to do. Unfortunately for us that sit at home, its still just a waiting a game. Once he is home, and his parole officer comes to the house, he/she will tell him what the exact rules are for him to follow.. My LO was released on Dec 19th and the parole officer was here on the 20th to do a walk thru of the house, check to make sure our dogs were fixed and microchipped, and tell him when to check in, how many times a month to check in, what other follow ups he needed my LO to do ( a drug/Alcohol eval). Hope this helps some.

No one can tell you just when, just that he will get some instructions before he gets out and the PO will give him the rest when he gets home.

My LO was sentenced to 9 months in vandalia, his release date is May 17.  A parole officer came over to approve release sight January 17.  My question is, is it normal for them to come 4 months in advanced because she said she wasn't sure of his release date and that she normally visits 30 days prior to an inmates release. Everybody i've talked to said that the PO normally came 2-4weeks in advance. Any information is greatly appreciated.

It is normal, don't get excited, they have been none to come up to a year before, just doing their jobs!  There is no early release right now, so if he isn't getting any credit for classes/programs, just expect him home May 17th.

Good Luck to him and you!
