Best phone service to use for Vienna Correctional?

I am just wondering if anyone has had better luck with one company over another for phones at Vienna?  They are expensive but I see ones that have something to do with getting a local number and wondered if anyone has done that route before, does it work?

I have At&t my cell phone, I have Comcast for home No issues with either.
There is no other phone company other then Consolidated Public Service that you can set up an account with, to receive the calls from IDOC.

If you can afford to purchase a prepaid cell, purchase one and use that for calls. Since you can ask for the area code of 618 since that's where Vienna is that will help save money. The further you are the more money it is. I'm in the O'Hare area and my hubby is in Vienna and it is a total of $9.60 per  30 minutecall.
I have a prepaid account with CPS $3 fee on every payment plus tax. so when I put $20 on the phone its actually ($3 fee = $18 and then minus tax) may be about $15-16 when all said and done. I want to think there is about a 10% tax. Which i am estimating.

I wouldn't waste your time and money on one of those "local number" servces. You still have to have an account wth Consolidated, which means you are paying a bunch of extra cash for something that might only save you pennies.

Just wondering if anyone else has a l/o at Vienna Correctional and has not received a phone call today? My l/o always calls by 10:30am on Saturday. Maybe their phone lines are down in that area. I am not sure.....Just wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem. Happy Saturday to all!

Hi Chadsgirl, I recieved a call thismorning.   but only 1 which is not normal. I know last night there was a fight. bout 8pm.
My hubby is in 2 house. But i wouldnt worry. I know where my hubby is (just moved to that house) it is almost impossiable to use the phone.

I think this phone service is cool. But i have some question want to ask. Is anyone have another new phone service to introduce?

what do you mean by phone service? As in Consolidated? That is the only service that can be used. There are co out that but for Illinois only CPS, if you do use another it will be found out your l/o will be sent to seg. As in your own provider you can use AT&T, Comcast, what ever.
