District 4 oversees Centralia Correctional Center, Graham Correctional Center, Graham R&C, Menard Correctional Center, Menard MSU and R&C, Pinckneyville Correctional Center, Southwestern Illinois Correctional Center, Southwestern Illinois Work Camp, Taylorville Correctional Center, Vandalia Correctional Center, Vandalia Work Camp, Southern Illinois ATC and all parolees within the district.

Ron Meek was named deputy director of District 4 June 1, 2003. Meek has served in the law enforcement field for 20 years. He served as a telecommunicator and correctional officer for the Clark County Sheriff's Office from 1983 to 1985 and served as patrolman for the Marshall City Police Department from 1985 to 1986. He later served as a D.A.R.E. officer, patrolman, shift commander, detective and public education coordinator for the Effingham City Police from 1986 to 1994. There he developed the first drug abuse resistance education program for Effingham schools. He most recently served from 1994 to 2002 as sheriff of Effingham County and was responsible for patrol, enforcement and investigations in a 479-square mile jurisdiction.

Meek received an associate degree in law enforcement in 1983 from Lake Land College at Mattoon. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy Session 188, National Sheriff's Institute and Northwestern University Executive Management Institute as well as received numerous law enforcement certifications.
