Good for you, Chase!
I wasn't able to go see my husband for last two weeks because of the weather (snow and everything). I'm too scared to drive, too far... 250 miles one way.

I am happy for you  and that's so nice you got to meet the others, Illinois River will not let you talk to anyone BUT your L/O. That's probley to keep order? Don't understand alot of things BUT just happy to be able to sit with him holding his hands and being near him. That kiss and hug before and after is worth the 3 plus hours drive!! wc7

They will not tell you who is on his list. But I think if your mom calls and asks for herself, they may tell if she is on the list. I think you can go see him this weekend, but better call ahead, especially if you live far away. Yes, you can wear flip-flops. No leggins, ho hoodies.

In my experience, they won't tell anyone if they are on your LO's list even if you're calling to check if you, yourself, is on it. I called back when my hubby had been transferred just to double check that everything was situated before I went to visit. The CO told me I would have to contact my hubby directly to find out if I was approved on his list. Has he called to tell you that everything is set up and you can come visit? If you call and ask if his list has been approved, they may tell you if it has or hasn't, but they won't tell you who is on the list.  wouldn't go visit until you know for sure his list is approved. You may get there and be turned away if his list hasn't been approved yet. You're going to have to ask him if your mom is on the approved list.

How long does the Orientation Inmates have to wait before they can have visits? My LO was just tranferred to Taylorville, where this will be his home facility. Rather than sending money for his commissary, Can I bring it w/me at my first visit,-can I bring all the things I would mail, as books, magzns, pictures, comminssary & vending monies?

You can call Taylorville to find out about visitation but its usually about 30 days.  As far as taking money with you for his commissary - you can't take it..  It has to be mailed in by money order or sent in via Western Union or Jpay.

You can take books and magazines for him when you go to visit.  Write his name and inmate # on the front and they will give it to him once its proceed through property.

When you visit you can take money to purchase and put on a vending machine card to buy food for him or yourselves to eat on the visit.
