The usual allowance is somewhere between 3 and 5. You can call to get the specific amount.

I called and the officier said doesnt know exact limit but most people bring 5 to 6 in.
I will stick with 5 since I saw that on the visiting rules document.

You might have missed this topic with much information on Robinson and posts from many who have visited before:

http://www.illinoisprisontalk.org/index.php/topic,5625.0.html

Most prison will allow a diaper change before you go into the visiting room and you are allowed to fill one bottle before you go in too.  If I were you, I would call there today, information is in the link above and ask them, just what their rules are for your little one so you are prepared going.

Have a good visit.

I have visited Robinson many times. It is pretty laid back and I have seen men hold their babies, but have seen the guards tell people to keep their little kids from running around the room. The visits are 4 hours long, I drive over 5 hours to visit and have never got a visit longer than that even when the room is almost empty. I usually stay at the Best Western right in Robinson and they are really nice and have great rooms. It might be best to call about any other questions. Hope you have a nice visit.

Marisa90, I have been there several times and i take a baby with and you can take two bottles pre made wipes are okay i wanna say you can take 5 diapers they will be put in a locker but the bottles you can take back any baby food has to be given to the visiting room co. They are very nice there i never had to show more then 1 proof of i.d. Visit last up to 4 hours but can be cut short if they're busy but i have never had it happen. You can only take the baby's stuff & keys & what ever money your gonna put on the card. I hope this helps & have a fun & safe visit.

Marisa,
Yes, you do need 2 forms of ID to the first visit.  I'm not sure if your school ID will be acceptable.  Your best bet is to call and ask.  As for a birth certificate for your son, you will not need that.  The CO will just ask if you have custody of the child (or atleast that is all that they asked me).  Visits can last up to 4 hours (depending on how many other visitors are there).  Visitation starts at 9 a.m.  As for how many visitors and how many a month I'm not sure cuz I only go once a month and it's typically just me by my self or I'll take my daughter but I have seen visits with 3 people there.  Best of luck on your visit!

its 8 visits a month. 4 hours per visit. not sure how many visits a day or max about of people.
i would call to check. This weekend I saw a guy have two visits in a day.  I also saw them give people a regular chair when it was over 3 people. Im not sure if they got special permisson for that.
can bring in 5 magazines or books - give them to the person when you first sign in.
The prison is in the middle of nowhere surrounded by cornfields. there is a vistors parking which is on the right side of the parking lot when you turn in.  You walk into door and there is a desk.  the bathrooms are in that lobby as well. You give the person at the desk your id and tell them who you are visting. They had me sit down for a bit then they had me go thru a metal detector. Once I went thru that they had me sign in my name, inmates name, id number, license plate number and time arrived. They gave me my id back and gave me a locker key.  They had me put my id and keys in the locker then showed me into a small room where they frisked me down.  They had me go from the small room to outside the room by the lockers. Then they open the door had me walk into another room then opened the other door leaving to yet another room.  Once we got into that room we got into a hallway that led to the vistors room.  they had me sign my name inmate name and time arrived again.  They asked me who i was visiting then they had me sit at the numbered table that they stated. the room was L'ish shaped.  They had tables that had attached chairs.....

they had chess, scramble, cards, and dominos to play with - they had them by the vendor machines. The food was overpriced of course but they had pop, hamburgers, burritos, chips, candy bars etc.  You have to get the food and games yourself - the inmate has to stay at the table. The inmates can go to the bathroom that is off the visting room but visitors have to go back to the lobby then get refrisked then escorted back to the visting room. The guards do seem a bit more laidback than what i am use to. I was able to kiss and hug my LO when he first walked in and then again when we left. I was able to hold his hands as well. Most girls were sitting across from our LOs.  I saw men holding kids. When you are sitting the windows on the long side shows the courtyard. you can see the dorm houses and the other buildings (they all look the same)

From Aurora it took me 5 and half hours.  I stayed at best western for the night.  No pool there but it was a decent price, free breakfast, real close to prison, close to kfc and it was clean.

About 2 weeks or so.  Hang in there, you might get a call before you get a visit!  All his lists have to be approved.

It's been a while since I have posted something, just been trying to keep busy lately. I do have a question though if anyone could help me, I need to write to the warden but I don't want to send it to the business office, is there another address that is available for me to send something to him directly? Any help would be greatly appreciated  wc38
