Split visits would mean what?  2 visits on one day?  visits on consecutive days?  or what?

Split visits mean that the inmate gets a 2 hour visit, but one hour is spent with 3 people and the second hour is spent with 3 different people. Split visits used to happen a lot on weekends. I would see a families of 6 come to visit and while the first 3 were visiting the others would be sitting in their car.

And, Jaf, you can call his counselor to find out what cell house he's in. My now ex had 2 different counselors during his time at Menard and both were very helpful.

Every time i've tried sending cassette tapes, they get returned as being contraband.  They recently stopped using MoMusic for their tapes.  I guess the only places they can get music from are pack central, and perspectives.  Before anyone asks, I know nothing about either one.  C said it was a streaming message on his tv that literally said "Mo music is no longer an approved vender for offenders.  The only approved vendors are Pack Central and Perspectives."

Yeah, Chanty, I talked with my loved one on Monday and he told me about the new companies. Well....just Perspectives. I had read your post before he called, so when he mentioned to me the company change, I already knew the name and told him. He is always amazed how I found out info so fast. Why, it's from all the wonderful and informative people of IPT.  wc1

He said that Perspectives will make a mix tape. I can't remember how much the actual tape would cost, but he did say that each song is $1.50.

My mother and I just spontaneously planned a visit on March 7th, 8th, and 9th. I have never visited my father before, and I haven't physically seen or spoken to him since his incarceration (nearly 8 years ago). I mailed a letter this morning with the fastest possible service at the post office to the Warden asking for extended visits on these days. How long are extended visits usually? And does anyone think I will get the Warden's reply letter back in time (By the 6th, in 11 days from today)?

you should be getting a letter letting you know if you are approved for your extended visit and with the extended visit you should get up to 4 to 5 hours

Awesome, thank you for letting me know! I'm pretty sure it should get approved, because the circumstances of my visit are pretty bad lol. Thanks again.

Has anyone heard whether there was any storm damage near Menard?  It appears to have been near the path of the storm that damaged Branson, MO, and Harrisburg, IL. . .

And does anyone know what kind of plan the DOC has for disasters like this? ? ?

Did you all notice the new posted visiting rules on the new DOC website?  There are some changes.
I just wonder if (and how consistantly) they'll be enforced?

AGAIN? ! ? ! ? !   What's up with that place?  Was it even off lockdown for a week?  Perhaps.  Geez.  Well today is Tuesday, so I hope IF we get to go down there this weekend at least short visits will be allowed!
I pray that no one was badly hurt in whatever caused this lockdown.   Also I pray for wisdom in handling it, and for learning from it and implementing well thought out strategies to prevent future incidents.
